FWC introduced automatic license renewal through the GoOutdoorsFlorida platform in October 2015. Despite being available for over a decade, many anglers still don’t know it exists — and it remains the single best way to avoid accidentally fishing with an expired license.
How to Set Up Auto-Renew
- Log into your account at GoOutdoorsFlorida.com
- Navigate to your license management page
- Select “Auto-Renew” for the license(s) you want to auto-renew
- Confirm your saved payment method (credit or debit card)
- FWC will automatically charge your card and issue a new license before your current one expires
What to Know About Auto-Renew
- Each license must be opted in separately — freshwater and saltwater are independent licenses
- You receive an email notification 15 days before the charge is processed

Log into GoOutdoorsFlorida.com and reprint your license at no cost. Your license information is permanently stored in FWC’s system — you’re simply printing a new copy of the same valid license.
The Fish|Hunt FL app also stores your license digitally. If you lose the paper copy, the app version is legally valid for all FWC officer inspections.
In-Person Reprint — $2.50

There Is No Grace Period
Florida does not offer a grace period after your license expires. The moment your expiration date passes:
- You are fishing without a valid license

- FWC officers check license dates during every inspection
